The formation of patterns from different sound waves was analyzed in an experiment. Salt was sprinkled onto the top of a vibrating box, which – through sound effects - aligned into different forms. Most interestingly, upon the overtone of Buddhist monks, the sand rearranged into Mandalas – the sacred symbol of Buddhism. This was the moment when I started to show interest in the mysterious connection between image and sound.
The computer enables the audio-visual representation of the data set – making sound visible. This program is a sound-image synthesizer. It indicates the sum of three sound waves in a periodic scale. This is a very primitive transformation, enabling interferences to be seen on the monitor.
